It’s no secret that New York City has a bunch of thrift stores. But the fact that there are so many, makes it a challenge to really find the hidden pearls. Finding a high-end blazer for only a couple of bucks or that vintage Chanel bag you’ve always wanted, you can find it all in New York! So good luck with finding the hidden gems!
Now, how are you going to begin your quest? La Rue Moderne will help you by sharing our favorite thrift stores with you (spares you a lot of work!). This week’s pick is The Quality Mending Company.
Located at 15 Prince St., The Quality Mending Company might just be the best thrift store if you’re particularly looking for vintage men’s wear dating from 1900-1980. Founded in 2003 as Eleven Vintage, the company has always selected the finest men’s wear to sell.
But The Quality Mending Company is slightly different than any other thrift store, and that’s exactly why we had to share it with you! In 2010, the company launched its own line “The Quality Mending Company”, that sold clothing and accessories that were locally manufactured. This line preserved the vintage concept of the store, but has a more contemporary twist to it.
